Karel,

that idea is still feasable. It was my original intention to replace VML 
with Flash, but it seemed wise to ask for more opinions. Since we are 
also moving to a module based design (in 1.5.x) we could implement the 
Flash renderer as an alternative for the current renderers. But that 
would mean adding another technology, which in turn will slow down 
development.
