Line topology edits
Hallo my naam is Pieters. Ek praat Afrikaans en is van Suid Afrika.
In case Afrikaans is not understandable I will continue in English. My language is close to Flemish and is derived from Dutch.
I work on the street center lines of South Africa. I'm looking for a web based solution for editing the data, MAJAS looks like an option. I have one question. Can it handle topology. I'm not sure if I use the term correctly. What I mean is a link in the line network has a start node and end node or end points. At an intersection two or more links are connected to one another. So if I move that endpoint will all the links that are connected to that endpoint move along? If you know Maptitude GIS from caliper - the way they handle this is very user friendly and I'm looking for something similar but Web based.
Regards,
Pieters.
Hello Mr. Pieters,
I speak Flemish, but I will try to answer in English.
The topology possibilities where built into a project for a
Flemish user. We are integrating and testing this code now to be
available in the next stable release of geGIS. We already have a
developer version ready where topology is supported.
We also have created a module which supports open street map data.
We will demonstrate this module on a FOSS4G2008 work shop, in south
Africa (Kaapstad) begin of october. (together with the Topology
stuff). You can find more information about this workshop on:
http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/FOSS4G2008_Workshop_Submissions
look for the submission of Pieter De Graef.
I'll keep you informed when the topology features are on-line.
regards,
Dirk Frigne
PS.
Hello Pieters,
This is unfortunately not supported for the moment, it's a good idea though. But we don't have a standard function that supports this for the moment.
Many regards
